Cryochaps has proven to remove as much heat as cold hosing. Cryochaps not only achieve a better reduction in temperature compared to clays, gels and water boots but in a recent study comparing heat removed from a phantom leg, there was no significant difference in heat removed between Cryochaps and cold hosing Marlin, D.J. (2019) Evaluation…

Cryotherapy has been proven to reduce the inflammatory response caused by exercise. Effects of whole-body cryotherapy on serum mediators of inflammation and serum muscle enzymes in athletes, Journal of Thermal Biology, Volume 34, Issue 2, 2009 #CRYOCHAPS #NoLegNoHorse #MakeLegsLastLonger

Compression on the fetlock

Use Compression where you need it, remember to fit that bottom strap around not under the fetlock.Compression is highly important around the main body of the fetlock to cover the suspensory branch and annular ligament, so remember when fixing that bottom strap, go around the fetlock not under. #CRYOCHAPS #MakeLegsLastLonger #NoLegsNoHorse

Quick to cool

Cryochaps quickly cool surface leg temperatures to under 10 degrees. The below graph shows how, after the application of Cryochaps, there is a rapid change in temperature between the Cryochap and the leg. This external change in temperature has been seen in studies to create beneficial internal cooling. #CRYOCHAPS #NoLegNoHorse #MakeLegsLastLonger

The heating effect of boots & bandages

Do you know the effects of wearing bandages on the temperature of your legs? We’ve put together a video to highlight the rise in temperature as your horse changes gait when wearing a bandage. Using boots and bandages is common practice cooling the legs as quickly as possible may help minimise any damage. Using ice-cold…

Age and Injury

The risk of injury to the lower leg in horses is well documented to increase with age (1). This is due to an accumulation of minor injuries that often go unnoticed over the years, as well as the tendons and ligaments stiffening with age, so they become less stretchy, therefore more likely to suffer injury…

Why use Cryochaps every day after work?

After the Cryochaps competition it was interesting to note that even in trot, the tendons and ligaments can achieve ultimate stretch and hence the flexion of the fetlocks are at their limit. Pushing to these limits causes microtears and inflammation, therefore Cryochaps are a handy way to add cooling and compression to target any niggles…
